| Surgical revision | $1,000–$5,000 | Wide, thick, or poorly healed scars | 1 |
| Microneedling | $250–$500 | Acne scars, mild scarring | 4-6 |

| Filler injection | $500–$1,000 | Depressed/atrophic scars | 1-2 |
Keloid scars (grow beyond the wound boundary): steroid injections + silicone sheets + possibly surgical excision with radiation. Hypertrophic scars (raised but within wound boundary): steroid injections + silicone + laser. Atrophic/depressed scars (acne, chickenpox): microneedling + filler + laser. Contracture scars (burn, limiting movement): surgical revision + physical therapy. Stretch marks: microneedling + laser (see stretch mark treatment page). The most common mistake is treating all scars the same — each type responds to different modalities.
